Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about Minute Meds online prescription platform
How do you ensure patient safety?

The Minute Meds platform has many safety measures implemented to ensure that patients cannot over order medication or receive medication from numerous other Minute Meds pharmacies. This includes ensuring customers only have one account, so medication cannot be ordered early.

What do I charge the patient?

The pharmacy does not need to take any payment for the prescription or the medication. The patient pays in full on our website and your share of the profit will be sent to your account.

How do the medicines get dispensed?

You will get a notification on your custom dashboard when the electronic prescription is available to be accessed and dispensed. All you then have to do is download the auto-generated dispensing labels and print them.

How much does the service cost the patient?

All treatments are priced individually by you and that price is inclusive of all prescribing fees.

How much does it cost to join Minute Meds?

There are no set up or monthly fees. We pay for all the marketing material and we only earn money when you earn money!

Where is the patients' data stored?

Minute Meds securely stores all of that data, along with a full PMR for every patient on a secure server. This is only accessible by authorised personnel and any PMR records that are created in your own secure software. These can be accessed at any time.

Does the patient's GP need to be notified?

As part of the consultation process, the patient is asked for their consent to share information with their GP (in-line with the relevant GPhC Guidance). If they do not give their consent then their GP may be notified if the prescriber feels it is necessary to do so.

What happens if there's a problem with the patient's prescription

If there's a clinical issue, you can flag the prescription on the dashboard which will then be reviewed by one of our clinical leads. If your issue is of a technical nature, you can call your allocated account manager who will be able to assist you promptly.

How can I add to the patient's holistic care?

During the online consultation, we obtain consent from the patient to access their Summary Care Record (SCR) so that you don’t have to. We encourage you to use this in order to verify the accuracy of the information provided by the patient and to ensure that it is clinically appropriate & safe for you to dispense the medication to them

How much do enrolled pharmacies earn?

You will receive 50% of the profits of the private prescription sales made in your store using this service. We calculate this by subtracting the cost of the drug at the price of Alliance and Phoenix (Whichever is higher) relevant to that month and a private prescription fee of £5 from the price paid by the patient. The remaining profit is then split equally between you and us.

How does the customer pay?

The customer pays for their medication on the app.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all payments method through the platform including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Is Minute Meds connected to the NHS?

We are a private service so the patient will be required to pay for the treatment they request via the app, irrespective of their existing NHS exemptions.

Who prescribes the medication?

The patient doesn't need an existing prescription from their GP to obtain treatments. By using the Minute Meds platform, consultations are reviewed by our prescribing team and prescriptions will be issued by existing UK Pharmacies, like you!

How does Minute Meds work?

Minute Meds is a platform that allows community pharmacies to offer a private prescription service to their patients without visiting their GP. The patient simply completes a remote consultation on your app and a member of our prescribing team will review this usually within 10 minutes, and if the consultation is approved, the patient will be able to select the treatments offered by the prescriber. The electronic prescription will then become available for you to print and dispense immediately.

What happens if the medication they are prescribed is not in stock?

You are in complete control. You can enable and disable any medication easily from your dashboard. If you mistakenly leave it in stock, you can notify the customer via your dashboard with a message as to when the stock will arrive and their prescription ready to be collected or delivered.
